DURATION

1 day workshop (5 hours)

KEY TOPICS

Unit overview covering

  •  Legal requirements relevant to the sale, service and promotion of alcohol in QLD
  • Harm minimisation and duty of care
  • Anticipating problems and managing patrons
  • Advise patrons on "standard drinks" and the effects of alcohol
  • Assess and monitor the levels of intoxication of patrons
  • Provide a range of options to assist customers to drink within appropriate limits
  • Knowing the reason for refusing service to intoxicate customers
  • Skills to detect and prevent under-age drinking
  • Refusing service and assisting intoxicated customers

Course content will also cover 

  • Responsible service of alcohol
  • Minors
  • Unduly intoxicated and disorderly patrons
  • Security
  • Staff training
  • Promotional activities
  • Responsible hospitality practices
  • Noise management
  • Community and industry consultation regarding the conduct of the business
  • Compliance with the Liquor Act 1992 and other laws
