Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Overhauling - AUR40812


This program is appropriate for a tradesman working in the Automotive Industry. This course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge required to work as but not limited to a Mechanic in the industry. It includes advanced units for automotive trades people for up-skilling in technologies such as induction systems, engine design and development, and vehicle handling and stability.

Whilst undertaking this course you will develop a higher level of ability in current vehicle technologies and systems. You will learn to diagnose complex system faults, inspect and repair forced induction systems, overhaul petrol fuel systems, carry out blueprinting of engine components, carry out vehicle safety/roadworthy inspections and develop and apply electronics systems modifications. The repair of ignition, electronic engine management and electrical systems are also encompassed in the motor mechanic’s duties.

Job roles and titles vary across different automotive sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include: Auto Technician or Light Vehicle Commercial Technician.
 
ACCREDITATION

This is a Nationally Recognised course within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
 
COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENT

The entry requirement for this course is the completion of Certificate III in Automotive Technology.
 
QUALIFICATION RULES AND UNITS OF COMPETENCY
Total units = 10 units (1 Core + 9 Electives). The following list of units of competency have been selected as being an appropriate combination that can provide valid, reliable, fair and flexible assessment and is deemed suitable for industry required outcomes:
